I'm a California native living in Portland, OR and embracing all stereotypes the city brings! For the the last decade, I have been on a wellness journey myself.
My senior year of high school I gave up sports and decided I needed to find another way to stay fit. As one does, I signed up at a local gym and from there became infatuated with all things fitness. Even throughout college, I was always known as the "healthy" one in my group, but I had such a challenge with consistency, always trying the newest fad diet, yoyo dieting, drinking A LOT, stress eating, and filling my body with sugar and toxins.
I clearly remember when I was 21, I went to the doctor for an annual checkup and she told me I was OVERWEIGHT for my age . Also, I LIED to her about how much I was drinking in a week. It was time for a big change, but like most change, it did not happen overnight.
After graduating college and joining corporate America, I kept on the extra weight and was trying to get this whole work full time thing down. At the age of 22, I had a rare opportunity to work on a project in Hawaii where I was introduced to an all womens bootcamp. I learned the importance of having accountability buddies, a tribe to get you excited about working out, and eating food that fuels your body.
When I moved back home to California and then shortly after to Portland, I decided to become a Certified Personal Trainer just for fun! I had a big AHA moment that true balance is a combination of the Mind, Body and Spirit. I now live the BEST version of myself, honoring my body, growing my mind and connecting with my soul. In addition, I have created new habits and routines that makes me feel like the best version of myself, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
I hope this blog allows you to learn from my personal growing pains and inspires you to become the best version of yourself too!
